Lack of quality education for underprivileged students…

Education is the key to opening up numerous doors toward a bright future and helping one to achieve anything one desires. Our past is the biggest witness that helps us in understanding the aura that it beholds and that each and everyone should have an equal right to access it but the sad part is that’s not how things work. There exists a lot of students from marginalized communities who are deprived of accessing quality education due to numerous reasons within our society.

The students who belong to rural areas face several challenges that don’t let them cherish the true taste of education. These areas generally lack teachers who can provide a quality level of education because firstly these teachers are appointed for a short period so they know that they won’t be getting many promotions so don’t teach well and because there exists a deficiency of teachers in these areas so some states even appoint teachers who haven’t even qualified the exam. Also during elections, the teacher’s duty is being appointed which makes students’ education fall off as well as there is no provision for attendance in these types of schools so neither of the two sides is serious regarding the curriculum. These areas also lack modern tools to enhance education as well as even lack good transportation so children are not able to even reach the schools that are situated at a distance. There is also a lack of infrastructure as well as motivation or any kind of guidance that’s being provided to the students by the teachers.

Then comes low-income families that majorly face serious issues in attaining quality education firstly because of their ill health just because of the kind of surroundings they live which even lack basic sanitation due to which they also have to face a lot of societal discrimination even in the school. They are not able to afford much and the teachers are also similar to that of the rural group so are incapable of providing quality education to students. They are being forced to work rather than get educated because their parents and everyone consider earning and begging to be a better option rather than letting them go and study. Also because of their financial background, most of the time they are moving from one place to another which highly hampers their education.

Lastly are the children who belong to the traditional sectors of our society who have always been the unprivileged sections of the society other than those mentioned above i.e. SC, ST, Muslim, Parsi, Christian, females, etc. Although we have gained independence still in lots of places these people still face a lot of discrimination and are deprived of getting an education. They are sometimes even not allowed to step out of their houses and education is considered a liability due to a lack of proper understanding. So can’t even walk by holding hands with the rest of society due to these conditions.

Understanding National Education Policy (NEP) 2020

As Oprah Winfrey says that “Education is the key to unlocking the world, a passport to freedom”. This is the truth that needs to be understood by society and let these people breathe and rise towards a better future.
