Children are the most innocent and rather most talented individuals in the human species. According to the research, the human brain develops up to 70% of its adult size within one year of age and up to 85% within 3 years of age i.e. the development of hundreds of neural signals which is responsible for better communication as well as the development of human thought. So all this study indicates that a child is very capable to grasp educational knowledge and develop social, emotional, cognitive, and physical needs in his or her early ages of life. Therefore early childhood education provided to children in their kindergarten and preschool years of life is a crucial one as it helps in the overall development of the child for the mere future (as these years act as a stepping stone for a child).Â
Importance of the opportunities for early childhood educationÂ
- It helps in the development of a rich brain and helps the child in inculcating several emotional and social skills, as well as makes him or them ready for problem-solving, learning music, and much more. At this age, anything that is being so carefully taught gets imbibed in the core system of the child.
- Another importance is the development of social bonding and sensitization skills within the child as the children avoid getting involved in gender, caste, culture, ethnicity, race, etc. kind of discrimination and develop gentle and nurturing skills.
- Playing and studying together at a very young age develops a spirit of teamwork within them as they develop the values of respecting each other, becoming a keen listener, etc.
- Develop the spirit to value education and know its importance in life with the help of some activities and small experiences and develop the skill of 3R (read, write, arithmetic) within oneself.
- Also, these help in the development of soft skills like resilience, patience, concentration, confidence, and self-esteem. This helps in the development of a better future and taking better decisions for oneself in the mere future.
- Also, some of the other opportunities for early childhood education that are present for elderly people are to become a preschool teacher or become a director of a childcare center or provide care in homes or become a specialist in family support, etc.
Challenges in early childhood education
- There is an unavailability of so many trained teachers who are there to take care of children in such a good manner because children are very delicate beings and need to be handled with care. There is a deficit of teacher-child ratio in India for such small kids as kids of such tender age need attention and deficiency of teachers for an apt amount of children is there.
- There is not the apt amount of supplies present for educating such small kids in India as 50% of the population in India is rural and lies in the form of anganwadis or rural governmental organizations so it becomes a very big task to provide all the necessary equipment for proper care of such small kids as well as the presence of trained teachers specifically for this area.
- Planning the curriculum for such small kids is a tedious task as there needs to be something new every day depending on the interest of every child and how they are willing to inculcate those therefore it becomes a hectic task to develop such a tedious plan on a daily basis.
Therefore educating such small kids is a very crucial and delicate process but if done in the right manner then can bloom flowers for the future generations to come.
