DISTANCE LEARNING PROGRAM: Admission | Fees | Accredition

When UGC declared or released the UGC Dual-Degree full-time course guidelines, many students were very happy and excited as now they are allowed to pursue two academic degrees in both online and offline mode.  However, they are allowed to pursue up to two online courses affiliated with the same university or different universities simultaneously.

This dual-degree academic program aims to provide facilities to students in multiple manners so that they can get both formal and non-formal types of education. This program is not applicable to students who are pursuing their PhD (Doctorate) degrees.

Students can pursue this dual-degree program on the condition that their class schedules do not overlap.

Students who wanted to study in different fields but were unable to because of the time period are now the happiest ones because of this new facility. They can pursue two degrees at a time and save their precious time.

There are many students who want to study in some renowned colleges or universities that are far from their homes. As they wanted to pursue dual degrees, they either had to pursue both degrees at the same college or university or at a nearby college or university; the final option was distance learning. Those who wanted to opt for distance learning must look for the institutions and need to choose the one with some specific terms like:

• APPROVALS AND ACCREDITATION – The institution must have the right approvals, which means it should be eligible and approved by the government to give students education via online mode, and after the completion of their course, the degree provided by the institution must hold some value and will be accepted all around. The university must have these approvals and accreditations (grades and ranks): DEB (Distance Education Council), DEC (Distance Education Council), or AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education).

Any online university must be approved by UGC and must have NAAC accreditation or NIRF ranking. One can check for these approvals on the official website of the institution.

  • ABOUT THE COURSES AND SYLLABUS – Before jumping into any kind of conclusion regarding the institution, one must check the website of the selected college or university to look for the courses it is offering and the syllabus for the same. Checking out the same information will let the students know and decide whether they want to get into the institution or not.
  • FEE STRUCTURE – This is one of the most important things to check while deciding about admission. The fee structure, the mode of payment, fees regarding the academics, other facilities like hostel, coaching, etc. one must compare the fee structure and then can decide according to their convenience.
  • LEARNING MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS (LMS) – The institution must have an adequate digital learning environment. Universities that have LMS provide students with an online library, recorded lectures, webinars, workshops, external links, etc.
  • QUALITY, FACULTY AND PLACEMENTS – Students must look for these things too as it also holds a lot of value.  Proper education, professors, and, last but not least, the placement after the completion of the degree.
