Introduction to the Yojana

This scheme was introduced on 2^nd October 2016. Bihar Student Credit Card Yojana is actually a loan scheme for students to help them in further continuing their studies after their 12^th course. The Bihar government took this initiative to build a bridge between the Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) in Bihar and that in other parts of the country by ensuring that students don’t fall behind due to financial issues. This is a great step that the government took for the students’ future. All they have to do is to apply for this scheme with some of their documents and get the credit.

The Yojana Explanation

It is a scheme that provides funding to students who require financial assistance for their higher education, introduced by the Bihar government. Under this scheme, credit will be made available to all the beneficiary students at a 0% interest rate. In this scheme, the students will be provided credit up to a maximum of Rs 4 lakh at 0% rate. With this credit, students can easily apply for diploma courses and degree courses. Students need to complete their 12^th standard to apply for this scheme. After the completion of the course, students can repay this credit to the government.

Eligibility Criteria for the Yojana

• Need to be a resident of Bihar
• 12^th standard passed out
• Must be under 25 years of age
• Seek education at an authorized institute of the nation
• Complete the higher education course in its entirety

Benefits of the Yojana

• Students can get an educational loan up to 4 lakhs
• The loan is available to those who want to pursue general and polytechnic courses, and not just technical courses
• For girls, transgender and divyang students, interest rate is as low as 1%
•  Can use the loan to pay for the fees, books, purchasing laptops, etc.
• Repayment begins once the course is completed and the student gets a job

How to Apply for the Yojana

1. Visit the official website
2. On the home page, click on ‘New Applicant Registration’
3. In the registration form, fill the details
4. Enter the OTP and click on submit
5. Registration’s first stage is completed

Then the students need to view the application status for the Bihar Student Credit Card and fill the other required details. Even the students can download the mobile application from the official website https://www.7nishchay-yuvaupmission.bihar.gov.in/
