PREFACE OF THE PROGRAMME
The National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) has launched this four year Integrated Teacher Education Programme ( ITEP) in 57 school teacher Education Institutions from the academic session 2023- 24 across the country. It’s actually a binary major holistic undergraduate degree which offers the Bachelor’s degree course with the Professional degree course for those who wish to pursue their career in tutoring( BA- BEd, BSc- BEd and BCom- BEd).
This program aims at preparing preceptors for the Foundational, Preparatory, Middle and Secondary stages as per the new academy structure of NEP2020. This program will make sure that outstanding scholars will enter the tutoring profession. The scholars who’ll be pursuing this program will be predicated in the Indian values, languages, morality, knowledge, ethical tradition and also well clued in rearmost advances in education and pedagogy.
BENEFITS OF THE INTEGRATED TEACHER EDUCATION PROGRAMME
- ITEP is saving scholars ’ one year precious time and money as in the present education system, 5 years is required to get a B.Ed. degree. The duration of this programme is 4 years.
- ITEP prepares high quality preceptors in the Major and Pedagogy subjects.
- Scholars will get admission through National Level Aptitude Test; it helps them to get the seats in government share.
- Scholars’ literacy will be estimated through nonstop assessment patterns via forums , tests, etc. ITEP scholars will get a binary-liberal bachelor’s degree, in Education(B.Ed.,) and specialised subjects similar as Science, Computer, Mathematics, Economics, Music, etc.
- ITEP handed good structure installations to learners like libraries and laboratories, etc.
- Teacher Education Institutions will conduct community service, Adult Education, Vocational Education and Community living camp with the help of academy lot.
- ‘Moderation Board’ will cover the quality of schoolteacher Education institutions.
- Publication, field conduct of Faculty will be encouraged. Schoolteacher preceptors can give their complete focus towards scholarly learning, because of the small number of the scholars.

This programme is being offered in airman mode originally in reputed Central or State government universities or institutions. So as this is a 4 year degree course, scholars will be suitable to save their one year time and money and can use and invest in other fields for their betterment and new literacy.
